Programming Notes As we enter the holiday season, the workouts has changed quite a bit! With the change in class offerings, we’ve been able to hone in on what makes our programming unique. Both our Kettlebell and Barbell classes retain that emphasis on strength. Deadlifts and back squat are alternating days until we enter the new year when we’ll make good use of our new maxes in some fresh cycles. In our Kettlebell classes, we have brought the swing back to help get everyone ready for our 3rd Annual Elf Swing! Get ready to bring your holiday cheer on full force as we swing the night away with Buddy the Elf. “I just like to do swings. Swings are my favorite!” Elf Swing - December 20th Our version of a holiday party - the 3rd Annual Elf Swing is back and better than ever! Join us on the evening December 20th as we watch Elf, swing some kettlebells, and share together in the holiday spirit. Members can choose from a variety of levels from Hermie the Elf (500 swings) to Buddy the Elf (1,000 swings) as a challenge to complete before the movie is over. Really in the holiday spirit? Sign up for our "Santa Snatch" challenge and complete 800 snatches before the night is over! Our coaches will guide everyone through the challenge with manageable rep structures and plenty of breaks for cookies and egg nog! Remember, the best way to spread holiday cheer is swinging kettlebells (and singing loud for all to hear). Member of the Month: John Tunison 1) What was life like before becoming a BHF Tribe Member? I’m the CTO of a tech startup, which is just a fancy way of saying I’m a software developer who wears many different hats. I had gotten into a place in my life where I knew I had to make changes about diet and consistency of workout routines. 2) When you first started, had you worked out previously? If so, how? I had tried Orange Theory for about a year, which was fine, but it was a lot of cardio and wasn’t my jam. My challenge was to find a physical exercise that I actually enjoyed, so I could build consistency and make a routine that I would stick to. 3) What brought you to BellHaus Fitness? I needed to up my fitness game, so I just kept trying different activities until I found something that worked for me. 4) What was your original goal when you signed up? Why was it important? Honestly? Just to show up, at first. I felt out of shape and wanted to fix that. 5) What movements are your favorite when they show up in workouts? Least favorite? There’s that moment of electricity as the endorphin wave crashes into the back of your skull after a heavy deadlift. It doesn’t last long but it helps balance out my heartbeat which is scrambling to find solid footing. That's my favorite. My least favorite? Grinding through accessory work on a 20% calorie deficit. 6) Most importantly, besides the obvious choice of numerous award winner, Latin Pop sensation Shakira, what music do you like to listen to when working out? Right now I’m listening to War Paint by Fletcher, and in general, I’m a fan of the Motivation Mix in Spotify. BellHaus Brawl Powerlifting Meet Results The Inaugural BellHaus Brawl powerlifting meet was a success! Not only did the BHF Tribe community come together to support one another, but we had all participants hit new PRs across their lifts, proving that the hard work and the process does pay off! We are excited to announce Tim Crawford and Kathleen MacNaughton as the winners, totaling over 1,100 lbs. and nearly 600 lbs. respectively! Each will receive a free 1-hour massage from our in-house sports massage therapist Jared, with Stretch on Site Massage. It's time to start training for next year! BHF Gives Back: Delores Huerta Elementary School Each year, Fort Worth's Dolores Huerta Elementary School holds a clothing drive and fundraiser before the holidays. Clothing donated by students, parents, and the local community is then sold by the Student Council for $1 per item. This system both allows students the opportunity to buy gifts for themselves and family at an affordable price, and the proceeds go back to the Student Council to fund activities for the school throughout the year. We're lucky enough that BHF Tribe Member Kathleen MacNaughton is a teacher at Delores Huerta, and we're excited to partner with them this season. Through Tuesday, December 17th, BellHaus Fitness will be serving as a drop-off location for donations for Delores Huerta Elementary School. Get an early start on those New Year resolutions and clean out your closet for a good cause! Holiday Hours BellHaus Fitness will be closing for winter break the week of December 23rd. While group classes will be canceled December 23rd through December 28th, we will be providing programming, and Open Gym will still be available for members to use to complete the workouts. We will follow a normal class schedule on December 30th and following the below holiday schedule for New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, before returning to regular hours on January 2nd.
BHF Dog Policy
Effective December 1st, we are asking that our members no longer bring their dogs to the gym, either during group classes or open gym. As we continue to grow, we want to ensure that there is always a safe environment for all, including dog owners, dogs, and members, throughout the day. With that said, no one loves four-legged friends more than us, so we will be working to host some dog-friendly fitness events throughout 2020!
